Why is Jesus always portrayed as a wimpy, quiet, soft man with a distant look in His eye? "Meek," from the original Greek, means "tame (i.e. not a wild animal)". Taming a wild animal doesn't make it any less of an animal. It doesn't take away the animal's strength or abilities; it gives the animal "control," and the ability to live in harmony with its surroundings. This analogy stands true for us, also. Being meek has nothing to do with being weak. On the contrary, it takes often takes more strength to remain meek in some situations, than to simply blow up. |
